I have been asked many, many times why Company XYZ can sell a 2.0 GHz computer that cost $300.00 less than a 2.0 GHz computer from Micro Computer Service. Putting all the other components aside for the time being, the largest factor is the CPU being used in the system. Nine times out of ten we find Company XYZ is using an AMD XP2000 CPU for the basis of the computer, and they are selling it off as a 2.0GHz CPU. Not so. Now I don't know if Company XYZ simply doesn't know the difference, or if they are trying to sell you something that that you aren't getting - it's not up to us to judge any other Computer Vendor? Below you will find a chart that compares CPU names, along with their respective speeds, and you can clearly see that the AMD numbers do not match up to the speeds we think they should be. Please note, the data in the following chart(s) is taken directly off the respective company's technical specs. on their website.
Suppose you want to buy a 2.6GHz CPU Computer. Company XYZ will sell you the AMD XP2600+ CPU telling you it is a 2.6GHz CPU, when in fact it is a 2.13GHz CPU. On top of this, we usually hear that the rest of the world is trying to gouge customers because Company XYZ's CPU cost $50.00 less. Last updated by Administrator (admin) on Jul 22 2006 at 07:53
